MINE, ME & US Montessori School was founded in 2013 by Rachel Brunsma. The school began in her home with five students ages 4 months through 3 years old. After a year in her home, Rachel moved the school out of her house and into a local storefront in Blacksburg, Virginia. The name of the school, Montessori Infant Nido Environment (MINE), was formalized. 

 

Montessori Infant Nido Environment opened its doors to 13 children in a storefront in First & Main in Blacksburg. MINE was housed there for three years before moving to its current location in the Corporate Research Center near Virginia Tech.

 

Since moving, Montessori Infant Nido Environment (MINE) became MINE, ME & US Montessori School we added our Montessori Elementary (ME) school. The MMUMS Lower Elementary has been open since 2017. The Montessori Upper Elementary opened in the Fall of 2021. Currently, we are developing the Upper School (US), the Montessori adolescent program. 

 

MINE, ME & US Montessori School is licensed by the Virginia Department of Social Services. MMUMS is working towards accreditation through the American Montessori Society.
